Happy Independence Day, Estonia! Today we are celebrating the centennial of the country. This day is the original independence day, but we do celebrate the regaining of the independency as well, on August 20th since 1991.
There was a 50 years long period of madness between the two republics - the Soviet occupation - from the 1940s until the 1990s. In 1991 Estonia regained its independence and has been a free country since.
